Last week, Dr. Amanda Hess checked in a Frankfort Regional Medical Center to deliver her second child. Little did she know what will unfold that day.
With her own contractions starting in minutes, Dr Hess ended up delivering another woman’s child before going into induced labor herself.
Dr. Amanda Hess, an obstetrician-gynecologist with the medical center was preparing to give birth. That’s when she heard loud cries from a woman about to deliver. Dr Hess got to know from a nurse that Leah’s baby was in distress, with the umbilical cord loosely wrapped around the child’s neck.
The on-call obstetrician had just left the hospital to take a break. During Leah’s pregnancy, Dr Hess had examined Leah several times.
This is a crisis situation as the the baby would be strangled by the umbilical cord. Furthermore, Leah’s pain was unbearable.
With her own contractions just minutes away from starting, Dr Hess without hesitation just grab a gown to cover up her backside and then proceed to successfully deliver Leah’s baby. The on-call doctor arrived shortly afterwards to take over.
Great job, Dr Hess.
Hours later, Dr Hess gave birth to her own daughter.
